ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY.
The final concert of the current eeason of the Christchurch Orchestral Society will be given in the Choral Hall this evening, commencing at 8 o'clock. The society's full orchestra of' 80 performers will give a programme that is claimed to be the best yet performed by the society. The orchestra will be under the baton of the conductor, Mr Angus Gunter, and the leadership of Mr T. B. Riordan, and will play "Siegfried-Idyll" (Wagner) and the beautiful symphonic poem "Lea Preludes" (Liszt). I Also included in tho programme will be the ' massive and beautiful overture "lOenzi' (Wagner) and the popular tone poem "Finlandia" (Sibelius), and the well-known Hungarian march, "Marche Jlongroiae'' (Berlioz). The vocalist for the concert is Mias Vivienre Balph, a soloist of well-known ability, i Her numbers will include "There 'mong the I 'Willows" (Brahms), "ilignon'a Song" and
"The Secret," both by Schubert, two comtvositions of Grieg, namely, "Autumn Storm" and "The First Meeting," and a eroup by the well-known composer, Maurice Besloy, "Old Man Might Have Been" and "Thy Hand in Mine." Miss Frances Hamerton will preside at the piano. The box plan of reserved neat* iB rapidly filling at The Bristol, wid there will be seats available at the hall at 2b each.
