SITUATION IN RUMANIA.

CAROL'S RETURN ESSENTIAL.

FERDINAND'S DYING BELIEF. (BT CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. AMD BUS CABLE.)

(Received December sth, 11.45 p.m.)

PARIS, December 5,

"Lg Journal's" correspondent at Bucharest declares that the late King Ferdinand had a presentiment of the complications which have arisen since his death.

He wrote on his death-bed to M. Jonel Bratiano a letter, a photograph of which was produced at the trial of Manoilescu, and greatly impressed the judges, but the censor forbade its reproduction.

"Le Journal" reveals that it read: "I am most serious when I considei tho dynastic order disinheriting my dear Bon Carol, who has been coached in the duties of a monarch. On reflection, I think the decision will not lead to tranquillity and progress, and I trust your wisdom will enable a return to tho former dynastic order. I pray Heaven to bless my people and Carol, whom I wish a fruitful and glorious reign." M. Bratiano denied receiving the letter, but M. Maniu believes in its authenticity, and considers Carol's return essential. It is believed that if the Peasants' Party secures a majority at the elections, M. Maniu will become Premier.
