ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY.
During the last three months the members of the Christchurcli Orchestral Society have been working on the final programme of the 1927 season, to he given' in the Choral Hall to-morrow evening. The programme, to be given by the Society's full orchestra of eighty performers, is claimed i.j be the most attractive all-round programme yet given by the Society. • The full orchestra's numbers will include the ertire Symphonic poem, "Les Preludes' (Liszt) and the "Siegfreid-Idyll" (Wagner). Both are being performed for the first time. Other popular numbers will' include: Overture, "Rienzi" (Wagner), tone poem, "Finlandia" (Sibelius), and Hungarian march, "Marche Hongroise" (Berlioz). Tho full orchestra will be under the baton of the Society's conductor, Mr Angus Gunter, and tht> leadership of Mr T. B. Riordan The soloist of the evening will be Miss Vivienne Ralph, whose capabilities as a vocalist are already' known to Christchurch audiences. Her numbers will include: —"Thero 'mong tho Willows" (Brahms), "Mignon's Song" (Schubert), "Tho Secret" (Schubert), "Autumn Storm" (Grieg), "The First Meeting" (Grieg), "Old Man Might Have Been" (Maurico Besley), Und "Thy Hand in Mine" (Maurice Besley). Miss Franees Hamerton will be associated with Miss Ralph at the piano. Intending patrons are advised to book early at The Bristol as the demand for scats is very keen.
