OBITUARY.
MRS BERTHA USSHER. There passed away on Thursday last at her residence, Little River, a much respected resident of the district in the person of Mrs Bertha Ussher. The deceased lady was the youngest daughter of the late Mr Thomas Walden, of Clareville, Wairarapa, North Island), and was born at Upper Hutt 59 years ago.
Thirty-eight years ago she married Mr S. H.' Ussiier, who survives her. Although of a retiring nature, Mrs Ussiier was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in distress, and she will be greatly missed from the district. She was an enthusiastic member of the Little .River Croquet Club and was one of the founders of the club. Her children are Messrs E. W. and Percy Ussher and Mrs Henry Londrigan, and there are sis grandchildren. The funeral, which took place at the Little River Cemetery on Saturday, was largely attended, and the many beautiful wreaths received showed the esteem in which the deceased lady was held. WEDDINGS.
RICHARDSON—ROWE. Recently, at St. Faith's Church, New Brighton, a quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated, the bride being Alice Mary, only daughter of the late Mr and Mrs T. J. R-owe, of Dunedin, who was married to Sidney William, third son of the late Hon. ill. and Mrs Richardson, of Wellington. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr A. A. Rowe, wore a charming frock of powder blue georgette with touches of silver, and a beige hat of crinoline straw was trimmed with pastel shades of blue and pink. She carried a bouquet of cream and pink roses. The bridesmaid was Miss Eileen Bishop, who wore a frock of mauve embroidered georgette, with crinoline hat to tone, and carried! a posy of mauve pansies. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Alan Boqn. The Rev. C. W. 1. Maclaverty was the officiating clergyman, and the church was prettily decorated bv friends of the bride.
After" the ceremony the guests were entertained by Mr and Mrs H. A. Bishop at "Taramea," New Brighton. Later Mr and Mrs Richardson left for Wellington for their wedding tour. EROICA CLUB.
The first concert of their season was given by the members of the Eroica Club at the Jellicoe Hall last night. The stage was simply but effectively decorated with palms, and the handsome standard lamp with its golden shade made a striking colour note against the black curtains of the background. Miss Ella Thomson wore a dainty frock of lilac georgette, with yoke and godets of silver lace; Miss Marjorie Manning'B frock of shell pink georgette had an overskirt of-fine black lace; Mrs Cyril K White wore an elegant dress of ivory georgette, embroidered with crystal beads and coloured bead motifs; and Miss Ida Johnston's effective frock was of cherry-coloured patterned ninon with pleated front panel and inset skirt bands of plain cherry and ninon; Miss Dorothy Sharp wore a cameo-pink georgette frock, lavishly embroidered with crystal beads; and Miss Alice Carter's becoming dress was of cyclamen souple satin.
