RURAL DEANERIES.
BISHOP'S APPOINTMENTS. The Bishop of Christchurch has issued letters tentatively constituting and defining the rural deaneries in the diocese, and appointing acting rural deans, as under: North Christchurch (Canon S. Hamilton)— Belfast, Papanui, Merivale, Fendalton, Riccarton St. James, Riccarton St. Peter's. St. Albans,. Shirley. Central Christchurch (Canon C. G. Mutter)— The Cathedral, St. Michael's, St. Luke's. St. John's, Sydenham, Addington, Cashmere Hills. East Christchurch (Rev. C. A. Fraer) —Avonside, North Linwood, Phillipstown, Opawa, Woolston, Burwood, New Brighton, Sumner. North Canterbury (Rev. J. F. Feron) —Kaiapoi, Tuahiwi, Rangiora, Cust, Oxford, Ashley, Amberley, Glenmark. \yaikari. Malvern (Rev. H. B. Jones)—Ellesmere, Leeston, Lincoln, Courtenay, Malvern, Hororata, Prebbleton, Halswell. Peninsula (Rev. A. J. Petne)—Akaroa, Banks Peninsula, Governor's Bay, Little River, Lyttelton, West Lyttelton „ _,. Mid-Canterbury (Rev. J. F. Wiseman)—Ashburton, Tinwald, Hinds, Rakaia, Methven, Mount Somers. South Canterbury (Rev. H. W. The rural deaneries are now holding or have held their preliminary Chapters. North Christchurch met at St. 41bans on November 22nd, Malvern at Prebbleton on the 23rd, Peninsula at Little River, East Christchurch clergy at Phillipstown on the 19th, with a full conference (clergy and lay representatives) arranged for December 7th, North Canterbury or Rangiora on November 18th, with a conference arranged for probably December sth. The preliminary clerical conferences explored various matters, chiefly of organisation, that at Rangiora discussing parochial boundaries, which in North Canterbury have not been adjusted for some time. The principal work ahead of the conferences of clergy and laity is the consideration of the Finance Commission's report, preliminary to the Synodical discussion at the special meeting in or before June. —"Church News."
