BUS SERVICE PERMITS.
APPLICATIONS BEFORE COUNCIL. NEW BRIGHTON ROUTES. For the first time iu many months no deputations and no notices of motion will come before the Christehurch City Council at the meeting this evening. The Council will further consider the application of the Inter-City Bus Service to run two additional buses from North Beach to Cathedral square, and the Tramway Board's application to run buses oil the samo route. A conference has already been held between the Council, the Inter-City Co., and the Traimvav Board regarding tho acquisition of "the service by the Board, but no decision has yet been arrived at. It is hoped that ultimately some agreement will be reached. The question of granting permits for buses to run from Cathedral squaro to the New Brighton racecourse on December 15th and 17th, when the New Brighton Trotting Club's Meeting will be held, is also to bo considered by tho Council, in view of the fact that trams cannot now run right to tho racecourse along the Burwood line. The Milk Supply Committee's report to the Council will contain a recommendation to release Mr E; E. Hcrron 's report regarding the milk supply of tho City. . , Tho question of granting permits for fruit and vegetable barrows to be placed in certain positions in the 'City streets is another matter for the consideration of the Council this evening. The Concert Hall Committee will make a recommendation to tho Council to fix fees for the letting of tho new Concert Chamber, for which several applications for hiring have been received. Sign-writers in the City have entered a strong protest against the Council's action in ordering certain advertisements to be obliterated from brick walls and hoardings, and this protest will receive consideration.
