ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY'S CONCERT.
The final concert of the 1927 season of the Christchurch Orchestral Society will be given in the Choral Hall on Wednesday evening next, 7th instant, at 8 p.m. A magnificent programme has been arranged for the occasion, which will include new and popular numbers. The Society's full orchestra will bo under tho baton of the Society s conductor, Mr Angus Gunter, and their numbers will include a beautiful symphonic poem, "Les Preludes," composed by Liszt; the. overture will be the popular "Rienii" overture (Wagner), tone poem. "Finlandia (Sibelius), "Marche Hongroise" (Berlioz), and ••SieEfried-Idyll" (Waener). The vocalist will be Miss Vivienne Ralph, L.A.8., whose numbers will include "There Along the Willows" (Brahms), and two songs composed hv Schubert, namely, "Mignon's Song and "The Secret." Also a group by Grieg entitled "Autumn Storm" and Tho Turst Meeting." followed by two numbers composed bv Maurice Besley, "Old Man Might Havo Been" and "Thy Hand in Mine." Associated with Miss 'Kalph at.the piano will be Miss Frances Hanrtrton, L.A.B. The box plan of reserved scats opens this (Monday) morning at Tho Bristol, where subscribers and intending patrons are advised to make reservations early.
