Because of the unsatisfactory monsoon and the famine conditions, a grave cholera epidemic in Bengal is reported. The cases for the province total 0000 weekly, and the cases not reported are probably treble that number. The disease lias be-on traced in many instances to Hindus bathing: in the Ganges.^ The Government is issuing enormous quantities of free vaccine, and is sending medical men to the affected area. This year is stated to be one of a cycle in which a cholera wave occurs. Last week in Calcutta the deaths totalled 106. Several cases are reported among Europeans.
