LITHUANIAN REVOLT.
REMARKABLE STORY FROM RIGA (BT CABL*—PBIBS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIQHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. AND SUN CABLE.) LONDON, November 30. The Riga correspondent of the "Daily Mail" reveals the comical side of the revolt reported from Kovno on Saturday. A regiment with tanks and armoured cars was concentrated in one of the fortresses. The officers, under Commandant Petrutis, sent an ultimatum to M. Smetona, President of Lithuania, and to Professor Valdemaras, Premier, demanding their resignation. Professor Valdemaras invited the officers to breakfast, and discussed » bloodless capitulation. He had his guests served with quantities of vodka and champagne, and left them carousing. He sought out an old friend, General Plehavichus, who gathered a body of loyal flying officers and went to Professor Valdemaras's assistance.
Peeping into the dining-room Professor Valdema'as saw his guests were drunk. Ho loaded them in motor-cars and took them to gaol. It is reported they already have been executed, and Genual Plehavichus has been reinstated as chief of staff, but another mutiny is expected. FOR XMAS.
