Present indications are for strong southeasterly winds to gales at places north of Wcstport and Kaikoura, and backing to easterly and north-easterly later. Elscwhore there will be moderate easterlies to freshening north winds. The weather will be changeable and unsettled with general rain and heavy falls in parts. Tho pressure is nowhigh in the South Island where shallow cyclonos are located east and west o£ the North Island and an extensive cyclone is situated north-east of Norfolk Island.
