MALE VOICE CHOIR.
When patrons of a society like the Christchurch Male Voice Choir choose their own items for the final concert of the season, the result is at once interesting and pleasing. At its previous concert, the Male Voice Choir issued voting paPers, containing a list of no fewer than 170 items, representing tho Society's repertoire, from which patrons were asked to select their favourites lor next week's programme. As might be expected, the Irish tune from County Berry, "Londonderry Air," which is sung without words and on the vowol "ah," topped the poll. Following closely were tho following strong favourites:— "The Sweepers," from "Fringes of the Fleet" (by Elgur); "The Bella of St. Michael's Tower" (Stewart), "Rolling Down to Rio'' (German), "Song of the Volga Boatmen" (arranged Bantock), "Cargoes" (Balfour Gardiner), "Drink to Me Only," "My Johnny was a Shoemaker," "All Through the Night," "Peaceful Slumb'ring on tho Ocean" (Storace); eolo, Mr L. C. Quane; "The Bells of Abordovey" (Welsh melody, boys only), solo, Master Jack Joynt; boys only, '"Hark, Hark, the Lark" (Schubert). These items, and others, will be presented at the society's, final concert of the season on Thursday and Saturday next, at the Choral Hall. Assisting soloists will be Miss Annette Smith (mezzosoprano), Mr T. G. Rogers (tenor), and Mr J. W. Richards (basß). The box plan will open at The Bristol on Tuesday.
