Sea Scouts. The Lyttelton Sea Scouts have been compellbd to decline the invitation by tho Iron Duke Sea Scouts at Nelson to spend a week during tho Christmas holidays as the guests of the Nelson boys. It was found that tho cost of transporting each boy to and from Nelson was £4 10s, and as no concession could be obtained on these fares, the project was abandoned. Seamen's Institute. The weekly concert given at the Seamen's Institute was arranged by the Opawa Guild. The programme consisted of songs by Mrs Quarrell, Miss Sutchff, and Mrs Mintey, recitations by Mr Huston, violin solos, Master J. Le Budde; pianoforte solos, Miss Hatchwell, who also acted as accompanist. A small hut appreciative audience gave hearty., applause to all the items. The Superintendent briefly thanked the performers, and supper was afterwards served by the ladies. District High School. The following pupils of the District High School, Lvttolton, passed Pitman's examination in shorthand:—Ethel Huston, Phyllis Carson, Chrissie Phillips, Joyce Collett, Isabel Burns, Jack Burns, Jack Childs, Hazel Morris. Phvllis Carter, Ivy Smith, Raymond Patchctt, Keith Webb.
