PAPANUI CARNIVAL.
+ MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The committee' formed to raise funds for a children's playground in St. James's Park and improvements to the Papanui Domain, met last night in the Memorial Hall, Mr F. W. Sisson presiding over a large attendance. Mr C. G. Derrelt reported that permission had been granted by the Minister for Internal Affairs to hold an art union for an oil-painting given by Mrs Greenslade. Mrs W. W. Taylor, secretary of the Ladies' Committee, reported that good progress had been made with the allotment of stalls. The Papanui Band offered to give a Sunday open-air concert in St. James Park, half the proceeds to go to the Fete Committee. The offer was accepted with thanks. It was reported that the Edgewara Juveniles would put on their pantomime in Papanui for the benefit of the funde early in the New Tear. It was decided to approach the Pauanni, Harewoo'd. and Waimairi Schools, asking them to co-operate with the committee in a children's poster and fancy dress dance.
