GUN CLUBS.
SPRJNGSTON. An invitation.clay shoot in*aid of the coming Springston Gymkhana proved very successful. The ladies from Spriugston provided afternoon ten, and helped in every possible way to mako the shoot a success. Several new shooters from around the district tried their skill at clays, and with another practice or two should prove themselves good shots. Two sweeps of 12 birds each were tired for trophies provided by the committee of the gymkhana. Tho results were: No. 1 Sweep, 12 birds —T. Kimber (18yds) 12 breaks, F. C. Roihl (18yds) 10, J. Wallaco (16vds) 10, J. Donnelly (14yds) 9, A. N. Turner (18yds) 8, N. Powell (17yds) 8, F. Garland (14yds) 8, h. Bennett (13yds) 6, J. Blakemoro (Byds) 6, 0. Schaffer (Byds) 6, N. Musson (Byds) 6, T. Hamilton (14yds) 6, J. J. Matthews (16yds) 7, D. McGregor (17yds) 3, E. Neale (Byds) 8, J. Wright (Byds) 0, F. Bidden (Byds) 4, W. Sills (Byds) 4, T. Gillatt (Byds) 2. T. Kimber took first prize with the possible, the shoot-aff for second and third resulted: P. a. Roihl 2, .T. Wallace 3. No. 2 Sweep, 12 birds—A. N. Turner (17yds) 12, T. Kimber (21yds) 11, h. Bennett (12yds) 10, J. J. Matthews. (15yds) 10, F. C. Reihl (18yds) 0, J. Donnelly (12yds) 9, D. McGregor (15yds) 7, J. Wallace (16vds) 8, C. Schaffer (Byds) 7, J. Blakemore Byds) G, N. Powell (16yds) G, T. 0. Neale (Byds) 5, F. Ridden (Byds) 5, J. Wright (Bvds) 5, T. Hamilton (13yds) 3, J. S. Simpson (Byds) 3, T. Gillatt (Byds) 2. A. N. Turner won first prize with the possible, T. Kimber taking second ' place with 11, and in the shoot-off for third place J. .1. Matthews won on the first round. Roihl and Turner handed their trophies back, to go to the best performance of non-members of the club unplaced. 0. Schaffer and J. Blakemore tied with 13 breaks each out of a possible 24, and in the shoot-off Schaffer won Turner's first prize and J. Blakemore took Reihl's second prize. ~,.., The day's shooting concluded with a sixbird sparrow trench sweep, and was won by T. Hamilton with the possible. N. Powell and J. Blakemore tied for second place. Mr J. W. Kime (chairman of the Springston' Gymkhana Committee) ' presented the prizes to the winners, and thanked the Springston Gun Club for their help. Mr A. n! Turner moved a hearty vote of thanks to the ladies for the excellent afternoon tea they had provided.
ELLESMERE. The boisterous weather on Saturday afternoon detrimentally affected the shooting at Lakeside, where the Ellesmero Gun Uuo held its district clay bird championship match. The shoot was at 17 birds, all oil 16 yards. Though much of the scoring was erratic, F. Graham and W. Patterson shot exceptionally well and contested the final between them. Both finished with all or), and in the shoot-off each missed his sixth bird, and Patterson missed his 22nd, leaving Graham the winner of the championship title. The next best scorers were: J. Winchester 16, E. A. Washbourne 16, F. Frampton 15, and D. McGregor 15. In a nine-bird sweep, F. Graham, with all on, took first money, and second and third money was divided by E. A. Washbourne, J. Winchester, L. Lemon, and A. Thian. A second nine-bird sweep was divided bv L. Lemon and J. Winchester, with 9 on, and E. A. Washbourne took third money with 8 on. Mr H. T. Stephens was handicapper and Mr D. McGregor referee.
