CHURCH AND EDUCATION.
The Standing Committee o£ the Association of the Love of God met at College House yesterday morning, with Canon Wilford in the chair. The treasurer (Mr W. E. D. Bishop) supplied tho meeting with the annual balancesheet. This showed that one of the Associates had perpetuated her annual subscription by giving a sufficient sum of money to bring the amount in by yearly interest. The chairman outlined the objective of the Association's work. The message of the members to the Church of the province had been that the Church had no more important work than that to do with her children. Moreover, they had insisted on the principle that the Church must lead her own children. At the present time two urgent needs stood out. Greater advantage could be taken of the facilities for teaching in the State schools either after or before school hours if Church men and Church women who haa some leisure would give up s little of ei l time to helping the clergy. More Church schools should be built. It was determined to let the annual meeting this year take the shape of 8 garden party to be held in College House gardens on Tuesday, December 13th. The "outline of an annual report was approved of and it was unanimously decided to repeat it in the Association's offer to help to build an open-air school in any parish so long.as the Association was approached by the proper authorities. The following committee was set up *o make all arrangements for the meeting:—■ Mesdames H. D. Andrews and' "W. B. Clarkson, and the Misses Pitts and G. A. Miller (secretary).
