N.Z. MANUFACTURERS MEET.
0 AUCKLAND CONFERENCE. (press association TELEGBAM.) AUCKLAND, November 22. The New Zealand Manufacturers' Conference has decided to endorse a remit protesting against the increase in State interference in Private enterprise, and urging the repeal of legislation curtailing legitimate trading; further, that any business already entered into by the Government should be subject to the same laws, regulations, taxes, and conditions as private concerns. The matter of choosing a brand for use on New Zealand-made goods in cases where manufacturers wish to so brand their goods was referred to the Canterbury Association." A recommendation that in all Government specifications for contracts and purchase of goods provision be made for New Zealand made goods, and that where British is specified the words "New Zealand for preference" be added, was endorsed. The business of the conference concluded. A party of delegates will visit the bottle factory of the Australian Glass Manufacturers' Company at Penrose to-morrow afternoon.
