No decision has so far been reached i by the Federation in regard to interState shipping, but should these vessels , also be included it will be necessary . for the Federation to obtain the support of the Seamen's Union and other , organisations on the waterfront. ► As wool shipping is now at its height, i shippers will be greatly affected. STRIKE BEGINS. i (Received November 21st, 11.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 21. The waterside workers' overtime strike started from five o'clock to-day at all ports in Australia, excepting those in Queensland. Mr Seale, secretary of the Waterside Workers' Federation, says action will be taken against all vessels, both interState and overseas. Both sides w.ll suffer severely, the watersiders through no longer receiving their overtime pay, which is 4s 3d an hour, as against 2s lid for ordinary hours, and the shipowners through the delay occasioned by the stoppage of overtime work, where the handling of important cargoes is involved. The strike is likely to have a specially serious effect upon loading and geTiting wool ships away. OWNERS CONFERRING. (Received November 22nd, 1.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, November 21. Representatives of shipowners from the other States reach Melbourne tomorrow to confer regarding countermeasures to the waterside workers' overtime strike.
