TRAMWAY ELECTIONS.
ERRORS IN THE ROLLS. Several matters relating to Thursday's election of members of the.Tramway Board were mentioned at yesterday's meeting of the Board. Replying to Mr W. J. Walter, the General Manager (Mr Frank Thompson) said that a voter could record his vote at any booth; not necessarily at a booth in the sub-district on the roll of which his name appears. Eaca voter has only one vote and can vote only for the candidates, or candidate, standing for the sub-district in respect of whicn the voter is enrolled. Mr J. A. Flesher said that this did not affect the position where a person was duly authorised to exercise a vote for a company. He had noticed in the roll some little errors regarding the numbers on houses on boundary streets. Some voters who resided in the central sub-district side of the boundary road in the Richmond district had been included in the roll for the Avon sub-district. Mr Thompson said there was a certain amount of ambiguity in the description of the north-eastern bouri-. dary. If mistakes had been made and a man entitled to vote in central subdistrict, but enrolled in the Avon subdistrict, wished to vote in the central. sub-district, he could do so by declaration. Mr Flesher also mentioned that names had been misspelled in certain instances. He thought it should be made clear that despite these errors the voters could record their votes by declaration. • Citizens Association candidates will address the electors to-night, in the Chamber of Commerce Buildings.
