WOMAN KILLED.
MOTOR-CAR OVERTURNS. * ACCIDENT NEAR SOUTHBROOK. Through the capsizing of a motorcar in winch she was a passenger, Mrs Fanny Shepherd, a widow, 51 years of age, was killed almost instantaneously on the main road, near Southbrook, yesterday afternoon. The car was driven by her son. As far as can be ascertained, the car got out of control in some loose shingle, and capsized, the unfortunate woman being penned under the body. She died as soon as she was extricated from the overturned car. and the bodywas taken to the Brocklehurst Hospital. The son, Milroy Shepherd, was taken to the Brocklehurst Hospital, and after receiving treatment, was able to proceed to his home, although sufferin.a badly, from shock. Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., will open an inquest to-day. At the Methodist Church, Rangiora. last night, the R«v. C. Blair made reference to the death of Mrs Shepherd, and conveved the sympathy of the congregation to her relatives.
