BRIGHTON BRIDGE.

THE OPENING ARRANGEMENTS. Residents of South Brighton met on Friday evening to discuss arrangements for the opening ceremony of the new South Brighton bridge. The Mayor of New Brighton (Mr A. W. Owles) presided over a fair attendance. It was decided to hold the opening ceremony on Saturday, December 3rd, at 2.30 p.m., and to issue invitations to the Minister for Marine (Hon. Mr Anderson), members of Parliament, and chairmen of local bodies. Mr Owles was appointed chairman of the ceremony. A committee was set up to make arrangements for the function. Mr H. A. Glasson was appointed chairman, and Mr W Hulme, deputy-chairman. It was decided to inform the Heathcote County Council of the date of the ceremony, land to request it to have the approaches on its side of the bridge in good order for that date. The question of distributing a memento of the occasion to school children is to be considered by the committee* 1
