Complaint was made at last night's meeting of the Heathcote County Council by Cr. W. W. Scarff regarding speeding with open exhausts on Over's Pass road, and Cr. J. L. Danks referred to the speed at which some motorists took the bottom of the hill. It was decided that the Council's inspector and a member of the Council's staff should endeavour to stop speeding with open exhausts on Dyer's Pr,ss road.

"During the year the practice of stealing cars has become very prevalent throughout the Dominion, and the committee is of the opinioi: that to put a stop to such thefts amended legislation will be needed." states the annual report of the Wellington Automobile Club. It is suggested in the report that punishment .should be imprisonment without the option of a fine. The North and South Island Motor Unions have requested the Government to remedy the growing evil and the club hopes that an improvement will bo effected in the near future.
