A HANDWRITING QUERY.

TO THE EDITOB 07 THE PBESS. Sir, —My boy is sitting for the Public Service examination, and will be examined next week ill handwriting. In an earlier examination paper the test included writing in text, in halftext, and in small handwriting. He does not know what "text" is, his teacher does not know, and I have consulted two encyclopaedias and three or four dictionaries without finding a satisfactory definition. Perhaps 6ome reader will oblige.—Yours, etc., BEWILDERED. pov. 17th, 1927.
