TO THE EDITOB OF THE PEESS. . Sir,—l am out of touch with the latest reports of the Waimakanri Trust's engineers, but I heard some well-informed gentlemen say that the present plan was to siphon the river over to the West Coast. The Coasters, they said, would then get a new river and pay the rates, and everyone fin Canterbury) would be satisfied. Could any of your readers tell me if this is true?— Yours, etc., P.L.K.
