Bank stocks were again active on call "ts* terday. Apart from actual transactions buyers advanced their prices for several bani stocks, Municipal debentures showing anything over 5i per cent. are eagerly sought. The repayment of the 5 per cent. Government loan, which was due on the loth instant, has already had some effect on the gilt-edged market. This was anticipated by many investors and many large parcels 01 municipal debentures lately changed hands. In the stock and bond section prices remain firm at late rates. The market apparently is bare and sellers not offering except per cant. 1933 bonds. In the banking section. Bank oi Australasia had a turnover of 55 share© at> £l4 15s, an advance of 2b 6d on last reported business, but this did not exhaust the market, sellers offering more at that price, buyers quoting £l4 12s 6d. 600 Commercial oi Australia ordinary shares were released at 29a. 'market closing buyers 295. sellers 29s Id. English, Scottish, and Australian, which are now ex a dividend oi 13 6d, entered the buying list at £7 S3, no sellers offering. Twenty-five National Bank oi Australasia £5 paid share 3 changed hands at £3 13s 6d, a slightly increased price on last sales. Bank of New South TValea we;e again firmer, buyers bidding £44 1-S (kl, sellers £-14 15s. Bank of Now Zealand cum a dividend of Is 4d were bought at 58s lid, a rise of 9d on previous recorded sales. The market has displayed a rising tendency since the declaration of dividend, fnion "Banks were quoted, buyers £l4 2s Cd, sellers £l4 ss. For the new shares (55s paid) an odd parcel was sold at £5 lis 6d, market closing buyers £5 9s, sellers £5 123. Other bank stocks held at Wednesday's prices. In the Miscellaneous Investment section, Goldsbrough, Mort were fractionally easier with buyers 47s 4d, Fellers 47s 9d, and for the new shares in this company buyers bid 46s 3d, sellers offered at 46s Bd, but no business was recorded. National Mortgage were wanted at 725, sellers holding for 7Ga. These shares have been gradually tinning owing to increased buying orders. New Zealand Refrigerating Company fully paid sharos were firmer with buyers 16s 2d, sellers 16s 6d. For the 10s paid shares Ss Id was offered by buyers, sellers asking 8s 2d, and a parcel was released at 8s Id. Christchurch Gas shares advanced slightly, and an odd parcel changed hands at 245, a rise of 6d on last recorded business; buyers offered 23s 6d for further supplies, no sellers quoting. Wilson's New Zealand Portland Cement were stronger, buyers raising their bids to 3Gs Bd, sellers offering at 375. This stock has been very firm for some time though very little business has been recorded. New Zealand Guarantee Corporation had some attention at 8s 9d, 200 changing hands at that price, which is a point up on last sales. This did not satisfy the market, more being wanted at that price, sellers not offering. One hunndred and fifty Mount Lyells were boueht at 28s 2d, cum a dividend of Is 3d. This is a slightly advanced price on recent recorded sales. Market closed firm; buyers 28s 2d, Hellers 28s 4d.
