LIVE STOCK DISEASES. FARMERS* ATTITUDE. (pbisi issoai.no> txlegbak.) PALMEESTON N., November 17. The Dairy Farmers' Union recently wrote the Minister for Agriculture suggesting that all reputed cures for diseases of live stock should be given an exhaustive test by Departmental officers before being put on the market, and, further, that i.i the event of Buch remedies proving ineffective, their distribution be prohibited by law. In reply the Minister advised that while he was in sympathy with the suggestion, he was also of the opinion that it could not be given effect to. If tests were carried out, some success would, no doubt, be obtained in most cases, and, however small the measure of success, the Government could not condemn or prohibit its sale without being involved in endless disputesIn purchasing, an individual should b free to use his own discretion. Discussing the matter, the members expressed the opinion that the Department should make a titanic effort to eradicate those diseases like mammitis and abortion, which were undermining the dairving industry. At present they were only playing with the matter. It was*decided to write to the Department enquiring if it were in touch with what was being done in other countries. ARCOS PREMISES FOR SALE.
