Purchas the Archd'eaconate. of Timaru, rendered vacant by the elevation of Archdeacon Julius to the Deanery of Christchurch. Mr Purchas has accepted the position. Band Concert. The Geraldine District Band gave a' programme in the Coronation Hall, Woodbury, on Tuesday evening. Songs were contributed by Messrs C. Gimson and C. C. Knight. Geraldine Tug-of-War. , A meeting of the Geraldine Tug-of-War Committee was held on Monday evening. It wa.s decided that, owing to insufficient entries in the tug-of-war heavyweight class, that division be eliminated from the contest. It was resolved to increase the weight in the lightweight class from' list to Hist.
