MANOILESCU ACQUITTED.

BUCHAREST, November 15. j , The Judges deliberated till two o'clock in the morning before acquitting M. Manoilescu by three votes to two. A crowd in the Court cheered frantically, and demonstrations broke out in tb,e city, necessitating armed patrols to keep order. It is stated that Professor Jorga, the leader of the Nationalists, warned the Court that if M. Manoilescu were con' victed the army would feel compelled to take charge of the Government. [Letters and telegrams found in M. Manoilescu's possession gave the whole plan of campaign to overthrow the Dynasty and restore Prince Carol to the Throne. According to Manoilescu's dairy, action began on July 18th. "It is clear," states the dairy, "that Prince Carol desires to return, if possible, before his son Michael is proclaimed King. I think he is right." Manoilescu was awaiting final instructions from Paris for the. campaign, which Was due to begin in November. The conspirators communicated in code, but the Government held proofs of the plot in Manoilescu's own hand.] BLOW TO GOVERNMENT. (austhalian and k.z. cable association.) (Received November 16th, 9.40 p.m.) BUCHAREST, November 16. A section of the Press interprets the acquittal of M. Manoilescu as a severe blow to the Government. It is reported that diplomatic circles characterise the verdict as a cold douche for the Dictator, M. Bratianu. Professor Jorga, Leader of the Peasant Party, declares those who instigated the prosecution have received their first punishment, -which will be followed by many others. The Government has issuod a communique stating that martial law will be proclaimed if plots against the security of the State persist. It adds that the verdict has closed one incident, but will not affect the determination of Cabinet to apply the laws to those who attempt to overthrow the constitutional regime. A meeting of the National Peasant Party, fixed to take place at Bucharest on November 21st, has been prohibited.
