Extending Women's Franchise." London, November 16.—The correspondent of "The Times" at Belfast reports that in Parliament the Premier announced that the Government's Bill abolishing proportional representation would also embody the extension of franchise to women of 21 if a similar extension is adopted by the British Parliament. , France and Italy. London, November 16. —The correspondent of the "Daily Mail" in Paris reports that in-the Chamber's Foreign Affairs Committee M. Briand announced that the Government proposed negotiations to secure Italy's adhesion to the treaty between France and Jugoslavia. He said the Government were not alarmed by Italian Press criticisms, which it was convinced did not represent the Italian Government's real sentiments. N.Z. Stowaway Fined. Sydney, November 16.—John Patrick Brian, on a charge of stowing away ou the Maunganui at 'Wellington, was fined £B. He said he arrived m .the Dominion seven years ago and had been dogged consistently by bad luck. Latterly he had been unable to find work.
