ANNIVERSARY SERVICES.
■ ——« ■ OXFORD TERRACE BAPTIST SUNDAY SCHOOL. The fifty-seventh . anniversary of the Oxford terrace Baptist Sunday School was celebrated last Sunday. The preacher at the morning service was the Rev. John Miller, of the Papanui Presbyteriaa Church. At the afternoon gathering tho Rev. W. 11. Speer, of the Woolslon Methodist Church, gave a special address to tho children and an interesting feature cf tho service was the hyuiu auug by one of tho echolats of tho Chinese Mission, which is conducted in conjunction with the' school. At the evening service the seating a;commodation of the church "was taxed beyond its capacity. The Kev, J. Robertson preached the sernion, addressing his remarks specially to the fathers of the congregation and pointing out their responsibilities with regard to the spiritual growth of the child. Throughout the day, bright music was supplied by a large choir under the baton of Mr G; Drayton, assisted by the Y.M.C.A. orchestra, Miss V. Halliday (pianist), and Mr Melville Lawry (organist). In response to the appeal of the superintendent, Mr A. R. Jordan, for .funds to carry on the work of the school, the collections reached £SB, a record for Anniversary Sunday. A meeting was held on Tuesday evening in the church. The anniversary hymns were repeated, items were contributed by the Y.M.C.A. orchestra and Sunday School scholars, and a talk was given to the young people by the Rev. J. Jacobsen of the I/inwood Presbyterian Church. Prolonged applause greeted the superintendent, Mr Jordan, who rose to give a resume pi the year's work. This showed satisfactory progress in all departments and an increase in the roll number, which now standß at 261. The resignation of. Mr W. Williamson, treasurer of the school for the past thirteen years, was a matter for regret. New officers elected were:—Superintendent, Mr A. K. Jordan; assistant superintendent, Mr H. North; secretary, Mr.H. M. Palmer; treasurer, Mr S. Reddell; pianist, Miss V. Halliday. t
