GREY POWER BOARD.

LAST NIGHT'S MEETING. (BPECUL TO IHI PEBSS.) GREYMOUTH, November 16. The Grey Power Board met this evenin?. Present: Messrs J. W. Greenslade (chairman) J. B. Kent, H. Duggan, C. Uddstroni, J. Mulcare, J. O'Brien, W. Clayton, and J. Smeaton. A letter from the Runanga Borough Couccil protesting against delay in repairing street lamps was referred to the engineer for a report. It was decided to call applications for a meter-reader and to leave tho selection of the most suitable applicant in the hands of the engineer and secretary. Tho engineer was authorised to purchase the transformer on loan from the Aehburton Power Board if the Aehburton Board was agreeable to the sale.

The engineer reported that Mr H. J. Grants flaxmil) at Camerons was running on electrio power, and the sub-station erected at Camerons, which formerly carried only a very email private residence load, was therefore substantially loaded. In addition to the above the New Zealand Railways had made application for connexions for lighting and heat points at the railwaj, station buildings, yards and residences at Stillwater. This would considerably improve the loading at this local distribution centre. During the month 47 'applications had been received for supply, making tho total now 1348. On Friday last a visit was made to Crooked river in company with Messrs Lythgoe and Langbein in order to get acquainted with the district and dam sites for the purpose of establishing gauging stations on both the Arnold and Crooked rivers. To do the gauging a current meter was required if anything like accurate results were to be obtained. These instruments cost from £4O to £SO, and if the Board intended its own engineering staff to carry out this work the purchase of a current meter was strongly recommended. The report was adopted, and the engineer was authorised to purchase the current meter required.

The Finance Committed reported that the revenue for the six months ended September 30th, was £10,045 2s 2d and the expenditure £11,199 2s lOd, leaving a, deficit of £1152 Os Bd.
