NORTH BEACH AFFAIRS.

■-ALA SOCIETY. The sixth annual meeting of the Kbrth Beach Gala and' Foreshore Improvement Society was held in the Peace Memorial H»ll on Monday evening, when Mr E. A. M. Leaver presided. The balance-sheet was submitted by the treasurer, and showed a bank overdraft of £354 19s, and a balance of assets over liabilities of £B3l 14s Id. The balance-sheet, together with the auditor's report, was adopted. In their annual report the executive expressed regret that tho year had not been very successful from a financial point of view, and the bank overdraft had increased. This was mainly attributable to the hall not having let so well as formerly. The proceeds of the 1926 gala were allocated for the erection of the sea wall. This wall, with the improvements made by the Council about tho Peaco Memorial Hall, added materially to the appearance of the Society's property. The executive's report was adopted.
