FIREBLIGHT.
SLIGHT OUTBREAK IN AUCK-, LAND. [THE PEESS Special Sendee.] AUCKLAND, November 15. Beports of'the presence of fireblight in the Henderson fruit areas have been investigated by the Department of Agriculture. Mr J. Kennedy, orchard instructor in. the Horticulture Division, visited several orchards this afternoon, and he found some isolated; cases of tip infection which he does not consider will do any damage to this year's cropi Mr Kennedy said he had visited five orchards, in the Lincoln road , area, which was reported to be the seat of the outbreak. Infection, he said, was not general, only an occasional apple showing signs of the blight. No pear trees were affected. The disease was a recurring one, and the present year had been considered favourable for its spread. It had already appeared at Whangarei, where it had been inclined to spread. r The Department had the matter in hand, and inspectors. would be placed in the Henderson area. AH infected parts would be cut from the trees, and the outbreak would be cleared in a very short time.
