AULSEBROOK'S FIRE.
Reporting to last night's meeting of the Christchurch Fire Board, Superintendent Warner stated that at 9.2.1 p.m., on October 23rd, a "Late Call" was received to Messrs Aulscbrook and Co.'s Biscuit Factory, at the corner of Tuam and Montreal streets. On arrival, the fire had obtained a strong hold of the building and contents- Ten leads were immediately got to work from the mains and underground tank in front of the building, and after one and a half hours' hard fighting, the Brigade had the fire under control. "I am indeed pleased with the work of the men, who were ably assisted by several members of the Christchurch and Addington Baihvay Fire Brigades,, picture firemen, and many citizens who placed their services at my disposal. The plant worked well, and "the efficiency of the electric ladder undoubtedly saved many thousands of pounds, as the solid jet thrown from the tower had control over the whole of the area in which the fire was burning fiercely, thereby enabling the jets from the ground to be worked with greater advantage."
