FIRES.
THREE SHOPS DESTROYED. (rBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) OPOTIKI November 10. A wooden block of buildings in the centre of the town, owned by Bros., was destroyed by hre at 2.30 a m The shops in the block were occupied by Mrs Voss (tea rooms and confectionery) and Messrs A\ ells (cycle shop), and P. Clark (accountant). The fire started in the tea rooms and had a good hold before the brigade arrived. The brick walls on both sides confined the outbreak to the three shops. AH were insured, but heavy losses in Christmas goods and stock were suffered.
