CITY ABATTOIR.
ALTERATIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS.
When the Slaughtering and Inspection Act Amendment Bill, which gives the Christchurch City Council authority to raise a loan by special order to enable alterations and improvements to be. carried out at £he City Abattoir, was under consideration in Parliament, the opinion was expressed by some members that the stock should be killed at the freezing works instead of the abattoir. Cr. Clyde Carr (chairman of the Abattoir Committee), Mr J. S. Neville (Town Clerk), and Mr J. H. Wood (manager of the abattoir) left last evening for Wellington, where they will fully explain the position and give evidence before the Stock Committee of the House.
