JOSEPH HISLOP.
Joseph HUIop, the celebrated British tenor, who commences his Christchurch season in the Theatre Koyal on Tuesday next, has won for himself » great position, not only in England and in hia native Scotland, but alto in Europe. He has appeared at La Scala in "Lucia di Lammermoor" and "RigoleUo"; at Barcelona in "La. Bobeme," nt Stockholm and Oslo in various, operas; at the Orxra Comiqws in "Madame Butter fly" and "Manon"; at Brussels in other operas, and Anally before Eailing for Australia he sang Cavaradossi in "La. Tosca" at Covent Garden, in which oi.era house ha has also suns "Boncinc" with Dame Nellie Mclba. Mr Hislop has also sung at the Metropolitan Chicago Opera Houses ir. America. Mr Hislop will be accompanied by Sienor Alberto Pciarretti, a distinguished Italian pianist, who has recently played in Holland. Signor Sciarretti is well-known in London and has ot'ten appeared on the same platform as Mr Hislop. The preferential plans open to-day at The Bristol.
