ENGLISH PARK STADIUM.
SATURDAY NIGHT'S SPORTS. On Saturday night next, patrons at English Park Stadium will have an opportunity of witnessing the most thrilling sport ever held in the Dominion, when a three miles motorpaced cycle race will be staged. Arrangements have been made for six picked riders to follow motor-cycles 'fitted with rollers in two heats of three riders, over a distance of three miles. The riders taking part" are Willie Mackie, who is outstanding in this class of sport, Jack Henderson, J. Bearman, C. Austin, W. T. Weir, and E. Condon. . ~ . . The final will be run over five miles at a later meeting. Special precautions are being made to avoid spills, and an American scheme for safeguarding the riders, will be adopted, and all danger of spills through the riders going too fast will be •»'»»" l « 1 - Willie Mackie states that motor-paced racing is absolutely safe in America. As the race s "o be handicapped, close and exciting finishes are assured. The «« programme is a good one, including t*o open handicap cycle races and a two-miles scratch race A half-mile flat handicap is also included in tho programme. The sports commonce at eight o'clock.
