; CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. GENERAL MEETING, The committee of the Canterbury Cricket; Association met last njght, Mr W, Simpson presiding. Present were: - Messrs H. M. Qhrysfall, C. T. six, J. E. B. Smith, W. V. J. Hamilton, B. B. Ward, M. 0. Sinolair, L. D. Page, A, Dey, W. L. King, M. Burns, aiid E. B. Luttrell (secretary). A sub-committee set up to consider the most appropriate manner in which "the Association could celebrate its jubilee reported that it considered it advisable that the' occasion be celebrated by » smoke concert in the evening to which representatives from other sports bodies should be invited. This suggestion was put to the meeting and carried unanimously. I The Wellington Association forwarded a remit to the Association suggesting that, in connexion with the Plunket Shield matches, the time of play be limited to four days, and the hours of play bo 12 to 1.30, 3.15 te 4.30, 4,45 to 7. Mr Ward moved that the arrangements governing the competition be left" "as they were at present and the game played to a finish. The motion was carried. Mr W." V. King reported t|iat coaching with clubs and schools by J. Newman would be held on Wednesday as usual. Finishing Time. Mr T. W. Tothill wrote advising that the Christ's College teams would shortly be under the necessity of finishing their matches at 6.30 owing to staff difficulties. While the College recognised that by failing to play the full time the other side could claim a win, it was quite prepared to accept that. I Mr Chrystall: I think it is rather too early for us to decide whether daylight saving is a success or not, and I suggest that members present refer the matter to their clubs for opinions. Mr Chrystall said he thought 7 o'clock was quite late enough for games to finish. Mr A. Dey: 1 can't see the reason why i* two teams agree to finish at 6.80 they cannot decide the match then. Mr Simpson: Most of the clubs I've spoken to are in favour of finishing earlier. A member: Not many clubs would agree to knock off at 6.30 without definite instructions from this committee. It was decided, after long discussion, that the Christ's College matches be finished at 6.80 p.m., and the clubs playing the eollege be advised to that effect. VETERANS' CLUB. The Veterans' Cricket Club will play a match against the "Sun" this afternoon at -.30. All members who are available are asked to attend at Hagley Park.
