General entries for the Auckland Summer Meeting close on that day. Gay Jim has been turned out for a six months' spell.
At the conclusion of Saturday's racing at Biccarton, Booster was handed over by J. W, Jennings to the Wingatui trainer, D. P; Wilson, jun., who will in future train the well-perform-ed Solferino gelding. Jennings has had Booster under his charge since he commenced racing, and has won several important races with him. Booster is at present in better order than at any stage during his career, and more successes are in view for him in the near future. Biccarton trainers will shortly resume active operations in view of the South Canterbury Meeting next month, to be followed by the Oamaru fixture at Wingatui, and the southern holiday circuit- The Auckland Summer Meeting will also attract the attention of several of the local mentors. Dame Straitlace last week produced a bay filly fpal to Solferino, and is to visit Arrowsmith this 'season. The West Coast trainers, Dounellan and Shannahan, who have been stationed at Biccarton for the past few months, have returned to Greymouth. P. D. Jones has taken over First Sight, by Gay Lad from Snapshot, from G. Beed, who has had charge of the gelding since Jones left for Sydney in July last. The southern horseman, T. Metcalf, left for Wellington last night, with a view to trying his fortune in the North Inland. I
Aberfeldy, who ran disappointingly at the recent Meeting, has been turned out for a three months' spell. His place in A. E. Wormald's stable has been filled by Brpnstell, who will be kept in commission until after the Christmas Meot» jngs, and then given a respite until the following season.
Martarma is due to contest the Great Northern Derby on January 2nd. The racing Tie had last week will work an improvement in the Martian colt, and he may fee given another race at the f3puth pantfirtjury Meeting prior to his trip RPrth, The Kiccartan apprentice, B. Beale, has decided to settle at Trentham, and Will do the lightrweight riding for A. Gpedjnan's stalle. The report}; Meeting at Biccarton reflected the greatest credit on the secretarial staff, with the secretary, Mr F T (B, Opther at fche head, and the arduous djjtieg attachefl fa a four days' programme were carried out in a most sat< jafaetpry manner to all concerned. All the remairirng oscials also carried out thp|r work we}}, the efforts of the handka'pper (Mjf W* Pr Resell), the judge (Mf' A, JjipkspH), and starter (Mr P. D, McNab) deserving special mention.
FpotfaJJ had a heavy week at last week's Meeting, being produced in four distance races, to gain place money in each, without however providing a re? turn for hjs ardent supporters. The geld? ing geerned little the worse for his efforts when Psra(ied at Eiccarton yesterday, and it was hard to realise that ha had gajloped oyer a total distance pf seven pileg in the space of seven Says* Bap(er is fo be nominated for the Spijtfi Canterbury Meeting, and then giyen a final preparation for the Auckland Cap. The twpryear-old Concentrate, by Kilr broney from Oratress, who ran promisingly at Eiccarton last week, and is likely to be heard of more later in the season, cost his present owner, Mr B. J. Murpfcy, 800 guineas at the last Trenr tham January sajes. In the Lake Handicap at the Levin Meeting, Kindle has been re-handicap? Sad to carry B*3. Iq the Gorge Hanr leap at the Ashhurst Meeting he will have to carry 8-4.

TROTTING NOTES.
Nominations for the 'Wellington T.C.'s Summer Meeting close to-morrow. Acceptances for the Forbury Park T.C.'s Spring Meeting close on Friday. The Otahuhu Trotting Club's Spring Meeting will commence on Saturday next.
Dalineny will not he a starter at the Forbury Park Meeting. ltoyal Audubon and High Jinks, owned by the Greymoubh sportsman, Mr J. J. Dore, have joined H. Frost's New Brighton stable. Frost has indulged William the Great in a few days' spell after his racing at Addington and will prepare him for the Wellington Trotting Club's Meeting next month. Talent, who showed promising form at Addir.gton, will race at Forbury Park.
At the last moment F. Holmes has had to cancel his trip to Auckland with Tom Thumb, Royal Authoress, Poiutalena, and Quickfire owing to the fact that he was not able to secure accommodation for his horseg on the ferry steamer to Wellington. The absence of Tom Thumb from the Jellicoe Handicap will take a good deal of interest out of this race, for the Logan Pointer gelding looked the most likely to make things interesting for Cardinal Logan. 0. E. Hooper did not take Queen's Own and Trenand back to Hinds when he left on Saturday morning. Queen's Own has been placed in the care of F. G. Holmes and will be mated with Driisuy, while Trenand, who is being trained by F. Holmes, is to 1m placed in the private sale list. Shine Soon in M. B. Edwards's stable has developed a splint and is under veterinary treatment.
Black Admiral lightened up as a result of his racing last week, and will be given an easy time for a week or two. Direct Wave has Jeff, M. B. Edwards's stable and in future will be trained by A. Lowe, who also has Achray in work. M. B. Edwards's team has been considerably reduced and Firpo, Locanda Child, Hc-ri Dillon, Ouimet, and First Water have been .thrown out of work. The last-named is to be mated with Author Dillon. The Leeston sportsman, Mr W. Doyle, had the misfortune to jpse his brood mare, Lady John, last week. Lady John was the dam of Our Lady, a very useful trotter, and she died while foaling to Young Author. Last week Mr Doyle also lost a promising two-year-old full-brpther to Audacious, but the cause of the youngster's death is not known. A. Hendriksen will leave for Auckland to-night with Cardinal Logan and Daytime.
LIMERICK'S RECORD,
£23,813 IN STAKES. The victory of Limeriek in the G. G, Stead Gold Cup at Eiccarton on Saturday Jast probably marked his final appearance in New Zealand as a fouryearrold, as he is not to be engaged at the Auckland Summer Meeting, but will be taken on his fourth trip to Australia at the end of January to compete at the Autumn Meetings in and aroynd Sydney. As various estimates of his winnings to date have been circulated, the following authentic record will be read with interest:— At Two Yean. £ First Dunedin Champagne ~ 525 Second C.J.C. In view of the possibility of Limerick seriously challenging the recprd of stake earnings credited to Gloaming over his period of racing, it is interesting to compare Limerick's total to date with that won by Gloaming in the corresponding period of his career. Gloaming did not start as a tworyearrold. at which age Limerick collected £1595. The following table covers the period cited;Limerick. Gloaming. is" e, At two years .. 1,59 a At three years .. 11,874 12,176 At four years (after N.Z. Cup Meeting) .. 10,344 3,582 £23,813 * 15,758
Gloaming won the Islington Plate (£525) and the Royal Stakes (£700) at the Summer Meeting of the AuckEacing Glub, and this completed his four-year Told racing. Limerick will not be a competitor at the coming Auckland Meeting, but will have a big campaign in front of him at the Australian Autumn Meetings, and if all keeps well with him on his fourth trip across the Tasman, he should have a substantial advantage over Gloaming when entering upon his five-year-oia career. Mr Greenwood's champion secured £5630 at that age, £5865 at-six years, £4238 at seven years, £2205 at eight years, and £8179 at nine years, his aggregate winnings being £43,100 from 57 firsts, nine seconds, and once unplaced • (fell at barrier) out of 67 public appearances.
It is appropriate at this stage to mention the stake-winnjng records of the ten most famous Australians, as under:—
