SHIPPING FOR SMALL PORTS.
SUBSIDY PROPOSED. (TKMi ASSOCIATION TKLBOBAIf.) PALXIERSTON N., November 13. The Foxton Harbour Board recently applied to the Minister for Finance for authority to raise a loan for the purchase of a steamer. Tho Minister refused the request and pointed out that commercial shipping was not the function of harbour boards. It was decided to forward a remit to the next conference of harbour boards supporting the subsidising of shipping for small ports. °
