ENGLISH PARK SPORTS.
AN ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME. There was only a. moderate attendance, at English Park on Saturday evening, when a first-class programme of cycling and rnn- ! ning events was presented. The chief event • of the evening was a match race between W. ilackie and J. Bearman, over three distances, but as Mackic had no difficulty in winning the first two, the third was not necessary. Another popular event was the novelty high bicycle race of Jialf a mile. All the eventa were run off smartly, and there was no hitch in the proceedings. The following are the results:— Three Lapß Open Handicap—First heat: M. P. Leathern (35yds) 1. Time, lmin 40sec. Second heat: S. A. Jordan. (45yds) 1, O. Bright (20yds) 3. Time, lmin 37sec. Time, 2min itser. Three Mile Scratcli Bace—W. Maekis 1, J. Bearman 2, J. Henderson 3. ilarfdc took the lead 200 yards from the finish, and in a great sprint won hy three lengths. Time, llmin 49sec.
