—♦ Tides. It will be high tide on the beach this morning at 6.4 o'clock and in the river at 7.28 o'clock, and to-morrow at 7 a.m., and 5.21 a.m. respectively. Beach Patrols. The following members of the Central Surf Bathing and Life-Saving Club have been sworn in by the Mayor (Mr A. W. Owles), as beach patrols" for the season 1927-2S—Messrs L. C. Matson. G. A. Cooper, T. H. Marker, T. G. Fox, F. S. Taylor, N. McDowell, L. W. Tosswill, H. Throp, E. A. Owles, J. Uritton, A. I. Hughes, C. W. Smith, J. MeCreanor, L. W. Hudson, G. S. Jarvh, R. B. Wheeler, J. Broome, and K. A. Wilkinson. Ladies' Physical Culture Class. The New Brighton Ladies' Physical Culture Class concluded its 1926-27 season on Wednesday in the Parish llnll. At the conclusion ct the instruction and in appreciation of the gool work and careful tuition imparted by the instructress, Miss Wheeler, the members presented her with a handsome pair of vases. Next week the class breaks up for the season. Presbyterian Church. The social organised by the session managers and choir of the local Pscsbyterian Church f\->r the puruose of according a welcome to Mr A. L. Mo TioDzie proved most enjoyable. The Rev. J. S. Young presided,. and presented Mr McKenzie with a silver wrist, let watch in appreciation of the good services rendered by him in former days. Mr Brownell, session clerk, and Mr Gordon, conductor of the choir, also spoke. Dnring the ei ening the following items were contributed; Pianoforte solo, Alisp Olive G;bb; vocal solos, Misses Murray, Langley, Lightbody, and E. Gbodland; trios, Mesdames Wilson McKenzie, and Miss Lightbody; recitation, Mr H. Goodland; instrumental solo, Mr E. Gallacher. At the conclusion supper was dispensed by the ladies' committee. Bowling. The following are the rinks for this afternoon: Section C v. Beckenham, at Beckonham: Chapman, Spedding, Hooker, Muirson, G. Kershaw, G. W. Bishop, Drake, Barrett, Samuels, Smith, H. Bishop, and R. Stokes. Section G v. Canterbury, at New Brighton: L. Laurence, Shaw, G. Laurence, Pat trick; J. Stokes, Leadley, Munns, Bisley, Coe, Pocock, Cooper, Marriott. Friendly games at New Brighton:— Dearsley, Bisman, Cooke, Dean; Pearson, Ironside, Raine, Wright. Church Parade. To-morrow being Armistice Sunday, the local Territorials and Senior Cadets units, together with the Band of the 4th Cadet Battalion (Christchurch) aro parading at 10.15 a.m., and attending Divine Service respectively at St. Faith's and Joyland Theatre.
