METROPOLITAN MEETING. TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME. The Canterbury Jockey Club's Metropolitan Meeting will be concluded at Riccarton to-day, and another successful day's racing is promised by the satisfactory fields engaged. Most public interest will centre in the contest for the G. G. Stead Gold Cup, in which Limerick will make his second appearance at the gathering. Although it is generally anticipated his winning record will be continued, lie will haive three worthy opponents to keep him busy. The same tram and train arrangements will rule, and with a fine day there should be a large assemblage of the public. Rowley will make his reappearance, and, taking a line through his Masterton Cup victory, and his finishing run on .Saturday last, he is certain to be in keen demand. Red Fuchsia, who will be bracketed with Grand National, has a lot of speed, and ho and Projector, both hurdle winners at the Meeting, will run Rowley closely in public: favour. He finished on well on Wednesday, after a tempestuous voyage, and if lie is ns good as his southern admirers claim, this is his opportunity to recoup the losses ho has entailed. Vertigera appeals the most; while Moorland and Rascal'cannot be brushed aside. The favourite may come from Vertigern. Rascal, and Black Duke. The latter gave promise at Wellington, and there were not a lew who believed he would win the Welcome Stakes, but he failed to opposo the flying Childsplay. If there is anything in that belief he should be able successfully to oppose to-day's field, but he will have a difficult task to beat Silver Rule, who has been most consistent since she opened her racing career. Centrepiece, who won the event last year will have benefitted by his races on Monday and Wednesday, and the public will not need to be remindod that he must have racing before giving of his best. Civility would be favoured, but there is a possibility of her being reserved for the Fendal'ton Handicap. Shirley won the Easter Handicap over the same ground so easily that she must be respected, but it is doubtful if she is the same mare today. Comio Song will have a host of followers, and so will Paperchase, who ran a good race in the Stewards' Handicap, and was only narrowly beaten in the Criterion Handicap. Booster will be a better horse than on Wednesday, and he may be included with Centrepiece and Paperchase, as a trio Likely to be in most request.
