THE COURTS.

SUPREME COURT. A LENGTHY CALENDAR. The calendar for the session of the Supreme Court which commences on November 15th, before his Honour Mr Justice Adams, is a particularly heavy one. The criminal session will be held first, the civil sittings to como before the Judge and jury being scheduled to eommenco on November 28th. It is anticipated that unless some of the 3(5 civil caseß set down for hearing are settled out of Court, the session will not be concluded until after the Christmas vacation.

Following is the list for the session of the . persons charged, with the offences alleged against them:— Archibald Swain, theft, forgery, and attempting to obtain money by false pretences. William Roy Macdonald, theft. Charles William Boakcs, murder and unlawfully supplying a drug. Leslie Stanniford Willetts, breaking into a shop and committing theft. Alexander Francis Robinson, alias McLean, theft; ..-•':■.

Frank Risscll, obscone exposure and indecent language. Marjorie Oliver and Anker Jakob Charles Jensen, robbery with personal violence. Jensen also is charged with assault and causing actual bodily harm. Samuel Phcoriix Briggs, theft. The following motor collision claims will be heard by the Judge and a jury of twelve:— Rossiter v. Tozer, claim for damages £628 4s .as a result of a collision betweon a motor-car and motor-cycle (Monday, November 28th). Duncan v. Counsel, claim for damages to the extent of £IO7B 12s, subsequent to a collision between a motor-van and a bicycle. (Tuesday, November. 29th). Ellis v. Kelliher, claim for £SOO, following a collision between n motor-car and motorcycle. (Wednesday. November 30th). Hart v. Christchurch Tramway Board, claim for damages to the extent of £232 8s 6d, arising out of a collision in which a tram-car struck and capsized plaintiff's motorcar (Thursday, December Ist).

IN DIVORCE. Tifter v. Tifler and Gallagher, dissolution of marriage on grounds of adultery. (Before the Judge and jury.) Washbourne v. Washbourno and Rapley, dissolution of marriage on grounds of adultery. (Before the Judge and jury.) Wonnacott v. Wonnacott, dissolution of marriage on grounds of habitual drunkenness and failure to support. There will bo a counter petition. This case will bo heard by the Judge alone. Undefended divorce cases, 13 in number, arc scheduled for hearing on Tuesday, November 15th.

MAGISTERIAL. (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) . DRUNKENNESS. A first offender found drunk on the racecourse, was fined 20s and costs. Charles McLean, found drunk on the Christchurch Railway Station, -was fined 20s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. A female first offender was fined 20s. HUNDREDTH CONVICTION. Bella McKegney was convicted for drunkenness for the hundredth time yesterday, her third conviction in six months. She was sentencod to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour. REMANDED. Bert Avery was charged with assaulting Constable Reed and with obstructing him in the discharge of his duties. He pleaded not guilty, and was remanded until Monday. INCORRIGIBLE ROGUE. William Herbert Vincent was charged with drunkenness and being an incorrigible rogue. The Senior-Sergeant said that Vincent was accosting people and asking them for money in Manchester street. He was fined 10s, in default 14 days' imprisonment on the drunkenness charge, and sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour on the other.
