ENSOR'S ROAD.
LAND OFFERED FOR WIDENING. An offer of land for widening Ensor's road has been refused by the City Council. The Town Planning, Housing, and Health Committee reported to the City Council last evening:— In connexion with the offer made by the owner of a section in Elisor s road to dedicate land from the frontage of his property for the purpose of widening the road, subject to the Council agreeing to form and asphalt a footway and erect a suitable stone wall to protect the cutting, and to grade the approaches to his property; a further l<?fcter has been received from the owner of the property in question, stating that the wall is to be of hard grey scoria ruoble, set in cement concrete and pointed on face and top, the height to be not less than 6m above the-natural level of the ground. As the cost of such a wall would be extremely high, the committee has replied stating that it regrets that it cannot accept the offer of land, there being no provision on the current year's estimates for the purpose. The clause was adopted.
