DAYLIGHT SAVING.
TO TEB XMTOS 01 TH3 PUSS. Sir, —Re tbe letters appearing in Thi Pbeß3 referring to the above subject and written in somewhat facetious rein by ''Old Timers," they are certainly what they sign themselves, both in ag6 and in their brain capacity to improve and adapt themselves to progressiveideas. i\lr Sidey needs no suggestions from them as to future good work, as a man of his ability and tenacity will still find work worthy of his efforts. Surely the view, apparently adopted by many, that the hour of daylight transferred from morning to evening has been specially arranged to suit all sporting bodies only is quite erroneous. Are "there not hundreds of men and women, not interested in sports, or possibly have reached the age wheu they can no .longer take active part, who will welcome that extra hour of sunshine when the day"s work is done? Are there not also wives and mothers who will welcome that hour of sunshine in their gardens after their daily strenuous toil? Therefore let us put forward our clocks without in any way altering our mode of living. Then onl'v shall we enjoy to the full this useful measure, so appreciated in the Homeland. It is with regret that I read that the picture theatres intend to alter the time of starting their performances. Surely they are hasty and are acting without sufficient thought. Many of us even in the City rise at an early hour (5.30 for roe) and consider the hour of .closing the pictures quiteate enough already. Should they adhere to this decision, iuanv of us earlv risers may feel compelled "to forgo our picture night, as we must go to bed at a reasonable hour. —Yours etc A SUPPORTER OF SIDEY.
