ARBITRATION BILL.
DAIRY FACTORIES' ATTITUDE. (F-BESS ASSOCIAIfIOX TELI6SAM.) PAHIATUA, November 5. Unanimous resolutions were passed at Pahiatua to-day by a meeting of thft chairmen of dairy factories operating in the district from Woodville to Ekotahuna to the effect that the Government should exempt the dairy industry from the operations of the. Industrial Conciliation find Arbitration Act. The interests of the industry demanded prompt action on its behalf by the Government. It was also, decided that the Prime Minister be urged to stand firmly behind the dairy farmers in t.Ue matter.
Another resolution was passed to the effect that: "This meeting, representative of the whole of the factories of the bush districts, some of whom are members of tho Employers' Association, emphatically protests against the action of the 'Wellington Employers' Association in opposing the amendment to the Arbitration Act now before .the House without securing the opinion of the dairy companies, which "are members of the Association, The meeting affirms its conviction that it is in the interests of the dairying industry that it be excluded from the operations of the Act as suggested in the Bill. It stiongly urges the Government to proceed with the Bill in its entiretv."
It was arranged that a delegation should go to Wellington to. give evidence on behalf of the Association.
