ROMANCE OF WAR.

"HER MAN 0' WAR.'! QUEEN'S THEATRE, TO-DAY. " The rivalry of two women for the. love, of one man is tho most effective combination of the time-worn dramatic "triangle." It is used with a totally new effect as one of tho many powerful elements of appeal in "Her Man o' War," which will be the Carnival Week attraction at the Queen's Theatre. The "woman-to-woman" strugglo in this story is purely one of hilarious comedy, although a tense dramatic sequence aud a startling plot twisting quite apart- from the main conflict of the story result from it. Jetti Goudal, as a French-German girl of AlsaceLorraine, falls in love with an Allied prisoner given her to work her farm during the war, and. a German countess, portrayed by Grace Dnrmoud, tries to. take him away. William Boyd (of "Volga Boatman" fame) plays tho part of Cupid's target for both • women, and high-powered comedy results. v Boyd in reality is a spy, and a grim, sinister' game, in which the love affairs at 'flrst are only a minor element, is played between tho hero and the German Intelligence Department. Equally intense and thrilling, and at times pathetic, is the struggle within tho heroine, caused by the fact that she loves an enemy, and that her mother was' French, while her, father died wearing ..the ,German Iron Cross. Comedy and love and rapid-fire thrills dotn-'! inato over the sad parts "of "Her Man o' War," however, and a happy and satisfying ending- evolves. Jimmy Adams, Christie Comody star, comically parallels the situation of the hero and the heroine when-he,, also » prisoner and a spy,' is assigned to help a portly peasant woman on her farm; When a. young man overhears some plans, concerning a mysterious future being made for him, very naturally delightful' and exciting consequences follow. This is exactly, the: situation in Richard Talmadge's nowest pic-' ture, "The Mcry Cavalier," the second feature on the. hill. Tho picture abounds-in action, intrigue, and .humour, and is graced with a beautiful romance. There are some new Talniadge stunts,: which, are not; only breath-taking, hut- absolutely different from anything that has been previously seen on the screen. • Charlotte Stevens is a. very charming leading woman. The supports include four comedies, two Kmpiro News,- and scenic. -Reserves ,at .Wcbley's, or 'phono 3343.
