PERSONAL.

Mr A. J. Macphers&n, Town Clerk, Temuka, is visiting Christchurch. During his absence his duties will be carried out by Mr E. B. Cooper. « Mr Eric 2s T orth, who was a member of the Post Office staff in Temuka some months ago, arid was transferred to Hamilton, arrived in Temuka yesterday afternoon, on a short holiday visit. Mr and Mrs T. Sheen, sen., and Miss D. Sheen, Temuka, who have been Spending a holiday in Sydney,- are returning to Xe-w* Zealand by the Tahiti, which left Sydney on Thursday.

Convent School. ' The annual entertainment by the pupils of St. Joseph's School Temuka,, was held in the Dominion Theatre on Friday evening, and, as was to be expected, drew a large attendance, almost all of the seats, upstairs and downstairs, being filled. Mr Coombs, who had given great assistance at the rehearsals, conducted the pianoforto items. Miss M. Evans, A.T.C.L., proved a very efficient accompanist.

The four little pages wore: Two for the queen. Patricia Radburnd and Monica, Cole; for the king, Gus Spillanc and Kevin Horrack.

October Rainfall. The rainfall for October, 192", as recorded by the rain gauge at Mr W. Goodman's, Temuka, was as follows: October 11th, 32 points; 14th, 55; 15th, 73; 21st, 15; 22nd, 3; 23rd, 38; 21th. 1; 25th, 2; 31st, 301; total 25SJ.

B. and F. Bible Society. The annual meeting of the Temuka branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held on Friday afternoon, at the residence of the president, Mrs C. E. Brtnnicr, and was attended by the collectors and members, and also by the Dominion Secretary, the Eev- David Calder, B.A. The president reported that the collection for the year has reached the sum of £33 la tid, with one list still to come in. while the following ladies had materially assisted in the result: Mcsdames G* H. AVatson, Philp, A. Meek, S. Shepherd, S. McCuliy, and Misses Airay, M. Aitken, Comer, McFarlane. K. Gunnion, Greaves, Dav6y, Butler, Smith, and Topham. The electiou of officers resulted in the president being Mrs Bremner and Miss D. Comer secretary.
