RIFLE SHOOTING.

KAIAPOI CLUB. The Kaiapoi Defence Rifle Club fhed its fir?l. Ashby Cup competition on Saturday afternoon, the conditions being ten shots atliOOyds and eleven shots at 500 yds. The following were the highest scores:—

ASHBURTON DEFENCE CLUB. The Ashburton Defence Rifle Club opened its season on Saturday with a match of seven shots each at UOO, 500, and 600 yds. The weather conditions were fair, and there was an excellent attendance. The scores were as follows:

WAKANUI CLUB. The Vnkanui Defence Rifle Club fired its fourth Shield match on Saturday in fine weather. There was a good muster of members, and some high scores were recorded. The prizes were given by Messrs Fletcher Bros., W. J. Moore, and the 1.0. G.T. Lodge. The conditions were seven shots each at 300 and 500 yds. Results: — r,OO 500
